Sommer & George

Sommer has been a good friend of mine for many years, so I had the privelage of watching her beautiful love story unfold, and I was so honored when she asked me to be her wedding photographer.

The day began at a nearby hotel, where Sommer and her entourage were getting ready. When I arrived, there was much excitement in the air, and the bustle of nine bridesmaids, five flower girls, and several family members in a little room made for a festive challenge in capturing the getting ready moments.

When everyone was ready, we headed up to the ceremony site - a breathtaking pasture in Kapahi. Fresh coconuts were served to the guests as George eagerly took his place where he would soon win his lovely bride. Sommer was escorted down the pasture by her beloved horse, then her proud dad took her arm and walked her the rest of the way. The ceremony began with the blowing of the conch shell. After the vows were said and rings were exchanged, George summoned for Sommer's daughter and on one knee, he gave her a ring and spoke sweet words of love and promise to her. What a touching moment. Not an eye was dry and it was all I could do to hold back my own sobs and keep my camera steady.

When the ceremony was over, George victoriously carried sommer accross the field to the spot where we were to take photos. They were so relaxed by each other's side that I just paparazzi'd them, careful not to interfere with the serenity and solitude of their moment.

The reception was held in a big white tent at Anini Beach Park. All of the decorations were beautifully handmade by crafty family members. The ambiance was charming. The night was a perfect blend of sweetness and celebration. It's times like these that make me love what I do. I love being a Kauai wedding photographer!!
